Article 32 Section C & E
Dr. William Barber at American Federation of Teachers, July 2014 – It is time to “fight for the soul of our democracy.” As teachers, you cannot be concerned about just education because the people fighting you are not just concerned about education. The same people fighting you are the same people fighting against voting rights, same people fighting voting rights are the same people fighting women’s rights, same people fighting women’s rights are fighting immigrant’s rights, same people fighting immigrants rights are the same people fighting labor rights. So you and I must be smart enough to hook up. Rise up in New York!

So far, Senate Democrats have yet to pump money into O’Brien’s candidacy; other groups, such as the League of Conservation Voters and the New York State United Teachers union, have put money into the district to help O’Brien.
Ted O’Brien continues to fight for the middle class and working people in Monroe County. Where does Mr. Funke stand? So far, he has not accepted several invitations to the Evan Dawson show on WXXI. Aren’t you afraid of what he’s hiding? We know what Ted O’Brien stands for!
NYSUT ENDORSED CANDIDATES
Today, Senator Ted O’Brien’s campaign posted a video featuring Diana Palotas, who served as a journalist and news anchor in Rochester on R News and Time Warner Cable News for 20 years. Palotas endorsed Senator O’Brien and lauded his commitment to public service and work to reduce the cost of living and doing business in Upstate. She also criticized O’Brien opponent Rich Funke’s opposition to the Women’s Equality Act and a woman’s right to choose.

Adjunct Survey Comments
Survey of MCC Adjunct Faculty
Forgetting the Faculty: The academic profession is squeezed from all sides. A recent white paper from the Presidential Innovation Lab of the American Council on Education focuses on “unbundling” and redesigning faculty roles — in a way assigning professors to specific functions in an assembly line of higher education. Some will teach only, others will do research, and so on.
No more collective begging NEW YORK – If adjuncts want more workplace rights, they have to take them. That message was echoed throughout a discussion on non-tenure-track faculty rights here Monday at the Coalition of Contingent Academic Labor, or COCAL, conference. It's being held this week at John Jay College of Criminal Justice of the City University of New York.
The New Metric. It’s hard to raise much excitement over a chart, but a recent one that breaks down how colleges can reduce the number of sections they teach and reduce faculty time while educating the same number of students might be getting there. But not all the excitement is positive.
